Cementing and hardening heat treatment

The thermal treatment of cementing and hardening gives particular surface qualities to the product. It consists of enriching the surface layers of the piece with carbon in order to obtain a hardening and an increase in wear resistance.
The cementing phase is carried out at temperatures above the critical point (Ac3) of transformation, for a maintenance time of a few hours. Once the cementing phase is completed, the piece is rapidly cooled (quenching) in oil to induce the martensitic transformation of the steel. Subsequently a tempering at low temperature also called "distension" is performed.
DEMM is equipped with dual-chamber and single-chamber heat treatment systems.
